Main Route

Early in the morning we pick you up from your hotel or near your hotel and with our bus and our guide - mountain guide - we head for the plateau of Omalos.

Inside the bus, the attendant collects the money for the canyon entrance and the boat ticket (Ag. Roumeli - Sougia) so that he can give you the tickets later.Arriving in Omalos we stop at a traditional tavern giving you the opportunity to have your breakfast or coffee (pre-breakfast) before entering the gorge.

Then you pass the entrance of the gorge and start the hike. Inside the canyon you walk at your own pace. Our guide, for safety reasons enters an hour later than you so that he can follow you, if you need any assistance during the hike you will stop him and he will help you.

The gorge ends at the village of Agia Roumeli, there our guide will have designated a meeting point to give you the tickets for the boat that will take you out of Agia Roumeli. In Agia Roumeli you have free time to swim at the beach and have lunch (preferential) in one of the taverns of the village.17:30 you board the boat to Sougia or Sfakia (usually Sougia).

When you arrive at the port our bus will be waiting to take you back to your hotel. Our bus returns you back to where we picked you up.Your excursion is complete...have a good rest!!!

The Easy Way

If you do not wish to cross the entire gorge, you can follow an easier program.

To begin with, follow the same programme as the rest of the group until Xyloskalo where you see the entrance to the gorge. Then you get back on the bus and continue to Sougia, from there you take the boat to Ag. Roumeli.

Arriving in Ag.Roumeli you can enter from the exit of the canyon and walk as far as you wish, for example to the trademark of the canyon up to the 'gates' which are at 2 km, paying of course the entrance fee of 5,00€.Otherwise you can stay in Agios Roumeli, swim and finally depart with the rest of the group on the same boat.
